Movie Talk: Divergent

I have to admit that I’ve been excited about this movie since the first time I heard it was announced. I LOVED the book and Insurgent was fantastic too. So what are my thoughts based on the trailer?

If you’re unfamiliar with the story, you can check out my review for Divergent here.

I’m thrilled. I wasn’t hugely supportive of Shailene Woodley as Tris but based on this short glimpse – I’m confident she can play the part fantastically.

And Kate Winslet is gorgeous. There looks to be plenty of action but this little snippet of the film doesn’t give away too much of the plot.

Based on this trailer I’m even more excited for the third book and this upcoming movie.

The comments I’ve seen have people thinking that it’s just another – and not as good – version of the Hunger Games. So not true. Being dystopian in nature there are similarities but Divergent stands alone in its brilliant ideas and great plot.

Are you fans of the book? New to the world of Divergent? I’d love to know what you thought.

Movie Talk: Vampire Academy – Blood Sisters

If you know anything about me – I’m a HUGE Vampire Academy/Bloodlines fan. It’s one of those series that has the right amount of drama, action, romance and paranormal elements to keep me perfectly happy. I’m thrilled about the new movie coming out next year.

As many of you probably know, the first official teaser was released a few days ago.

My thoughts? As excited as I am over the movie, they’re managed to turn this trailer into Twilight meets Gossip Girl. Nothing wrong with that. I watched every episode of Gossip Girl and really enjoyed it. But it’s not quite what I was expecting from Blood Sisters. That said – trailers are supposed to get people who know nothing about the story. I dare say there are a lot of VA fans like myself who will be seeing this movie regardless of how the trailers look. And I could see enough in this one minute teaser to show that there’s a lot that I like in there. Rose does look pretty bad arse 😛

I’d love to know what you think.

Is this a movie you want to see? Does the teaser do the books justice? What are your thoughts regarding the casting? All comments are welcome. 😀

Movie Talk: Who is your OBSIDIAN dream cast?

Over the past few days there has been some big talk about the YA paranormal romance Lux series being acquired by Sierra Pictures. Obsidian, the first in the series written by Jennifer L Armentrout, tells the story of Katy, a teenager who moves to the middle of nowhere only to get sucked into the world of aliens. Add to that a very hot young alien by the name of Daemon, his twin sister Dee and a whole bunch of other supernatural beings… oh… it’s very exciting! 😛 I know so many people who adore these book and will no doubt be excited by the news.

Check out Jennifer’s blog post about her series being optioned for a movie!!  (be warned – it’s full of so many fangirlyly awesome gifs and excitement!)

And it got me thinking.

We all have dream casts for books that we’ve loved and I was wondering: What is your dream cast for Obsidian?

Before things get into production and you’re influenced by who is actually cast (if it gets that far… fingers crossed!) who is your ideal Katy and Daemon?!

Feel free to let me know!
